Public Involvement

The primary avenue for public involvement in storm water management has been the Citizens Storm Water Advisory Committee. The Committee is appointed by the County Council and is responsible for making recommendations to the Council regarding prioritizing storm water projects and setting the appropriate amount for storm water fees.

During development of the Phase 1 planning report the County operated a storm water issue reporting page. This page in conjunction with the Public Works Department open house effort in March 2014 resulted in more than 100 reports of storm water issues that are of concern to San Juan County citizens.

Top Projects
The planning documents will provide a general description of 20 projects. The top 5 projects as determined by the CSAC will be developed to a 75% design level suitable for common funding applications. Additional, more detailed field information and public input will be solicited to develop final design for individual projects.
