The San Juan County Council hereby provides this Notice of Vacancy in the elected office of County Clerk. The office of County Clerk was vacated on March 12, 2018, with the death of long time Clerk, Joan White. In such circumstance, it is the duty of the County Council, as stipulated by state law (RCW 36.16.110) and San Juan County Home Rule Charter (section 5.60(2)), to appoint a person qualified to hold such office until the next general election. The next general election will occur in November, 2018. State law requires the County Council to take immediate action to fill the vacancy.
Persons who are interested, and believe they are qualified for position of County Clerk, may submit a statement of interest to the County Council detailing their work history and qualifications. The statement of interest shall be no more than two pages and must be submitted electronically to the County Manager’s Office no later than 10am, Monday, March 19, 2018.
