8:45 a.m. 11/7/2013 (From SJC Dept of Emergency Mgt)
Word from Centurylink this morning is that 911 service on Lopez Island is working now. No update on other services yet.

People needing Emergency response on Orcas should continue to call: 376-233 until 911 service is restored.

ATT is setting up a portable cell site in Friday Harbor this morning.

Free access to the Internet is available in Friday Harbor at the County legislative building (2nd Avenue across from the Courthouse), and at the public library on Guard Street.

--------

Noon 11/6/2013 Update - There is still no estimate on repair date for the service outage resulting from the apparent failure of an underwater cable between Orcas and San Juan Island at 4 a.m. on November 5. Centurylink officials have scheduled an afternoon conference call with representatives of the County's emergency response to provide information about the outage and plans for repair.

Much of San Juan Island has no landline or cell phone connection beyond San Juan Island and most DSL Internet connections are not working. On Orcas and Lopez Islands, long distance phone service is down. Performance of cell phones and availability of Internet on all Islands varies by vendor.
