San Juan Island
Reservations for Summer camping (May - September) are strongly recommended at this popular campground. See Camping for information on making reservations. The campground is open year 'round, however, from November 1 - March 31 campsites are available on a first come first served basis (some sites are closed for the winter), the upper restroom is closed, and staffing is limited.
This beautiful park, located on the west side of San Juan Island, includes rocky bluffs and gravel beaches that overlook Haro Strait with views to the Straits of San Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island. Most sites have water views across an open meadow surrounded by trees. Park amenities include water, flush toilets, small picnic shelter, picnic grills, picnic tables, beach and boat launch.

Partial cancellations (changes) are not allowed. You must create a new reservation to change arrival date, campsite, or duration of stay. Your $10 reservation fee is non-refundable. Cancellation 30 days or more from arrival will also incur a cancellation fee of 25% of the total of your original reservation, less the reservation fee.
Cancellations made within 30 days, but prior to 3 days, from arrival will incur a cancel fee of 50% of the total. Within 3 days of arrival, all fees become non-refundable.
No refunds issued at park.
Natural phenomena such as wildfire smoke, earthquake, volcanic eruption, and severe weather may occur in our campgrounds. If the campground is still able to provide full services (infrastructure is intact and staff is available to work), refunds are not issued for such natural disasters. Our standard cancellation policy is applicable.
San Juan County Park

Hammock Tents are not allowed in San Juan County Park (San Juan Island) campsites. While we recognize that some manufacturers are prudent in their design and application and respectful of the environment, there are many who are not. Other traditional tents are, of course, still allowed in any of our park campsites. Hammock tents are allowed in specified sites at Odlin and Shaw County Parks; please use the designated trees. If in doubt, ask Park staff. When reserving your campsite, please read the campsite description carefully and select a site appropriate for your camping equipment.
Vessel Launch Permit Policy for San Juan County Park Has Been Suspended
The annual program that has operated from the 2nd Friday in May through the last Sunday in September, requiring all vessel operators launching from San Juan Park with the intention of leaving the immediate cove area to have a valid permit has been suspended. It is expected that all vessel operators familiarize themselves with best practices for vessel operations around endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales and other marine life. RV Camping at San Juan County Park
Please be aware that the Town of Friday Harbor RV dump station will not be available for the 2022 season. There are no other RV dump stations on San Juan Island. Please plan your trip accordingly. If you are considering using an RV during your stay in the islands, San Juan Park has only specific sites that can accommodate RVs up to 25 feet in length and 12 feet in height--please read each site detail through our reservation system by hovering over the available site. If your vehicle is over 25 feet long, please consider the San Juan County Fairgrounds for your stay.
If you plan to bring an RV, you must select a suitable site when you make your reservation, no hook-ups are available (partial hook-ups available at Fairgrounds). Oversize RV’s/campers/trailers will be refused a campsite. If you have an oversize vehicle, please consider the County Fairgrounds for your RV stay on San Juan Island.
One RV or trailer per campsite is allowed. One towing or towed vehicle is allowed in a campsite with trailer or RV at no additional charge (when site space allows), see below for size limits.
Maximum RV Lengths in San Juan County Park
There are several options for *small* RVs and trailers at San Juan County Park. No hook-ups or water tank filling available.
Single unit RVs or trailers up to 25ft long and 12ft tall permitted in sites 6, 7, 10, & 15. Single unit RVs and trailers up to 20ft long and 12ft tall permitted in campsite 5. Single unit RVs up to 20ft long and 12ft tall permitted in campsite 9 (no trailers).
*Small campers, such as VW pop-up campers can fit in most campsites at San Juan Park. NO campers, trailers, RVs or other large vehicles in site 18. Maximum vehicle size in non-RV sites is 9 feet high by 20 feet long. Many sites are uneven, leveling blocks are recommended.
Fairground RV Campsites
Located less than a mile from downtown Friday Harbor, the San Juan County Fairgrounds offers eight RV camping pedestals. Nightly rate is $47 per site. Cost includes up to five people and one towed vehicle/vessel/trailer. Extra people, up to 8 maximum, are charged $10 (12+ years old) and $6.00 (5-11 years old) per night. Extra non-towed vehicle, two maximum, is $12.00 per night. Each pedestal is equipped with water and power hook-ups, 20/30 AMP. Sewage hookup not included in site fee. Restrooms, including showers, are available with your reservation upon check-in and are open year-round. Ten day maximum stay in a 30-day period. Fairgrounds group camping is the only tent camping available. Our grassy, forested group camp is $130 per night for up to 50 people. Extra people, up to 100 maximum, are charged $10 (12+ years old) and $6.00 (5-11 years old) per night. Amenities include vault toilets, outdoor sink/water spigot, picnic tables, large fire pit. Important Information for Ferry Travelers to the San Juans
Washington State Ferries (WSF) accepts vehicle reservations for some routes in the San Juans. You can find more information on this reservation system and make your ferry reservations online.
There are no vessel rentals at San Juan County Park
Vessel rental operations are not allowed at any of the San Juan County Parks. Rental vessels may not be dropped off or retrieved by the operator at any San Juan County Park.
Low Island National Wildlife Refuge
Low Island is a small rocky island located just off-shore from San Juan County Park. This island is designated as protected wilderness and is closed to public access. Please remain at least 200 yards away to reduce wildlife disturbances. There is no camping allowed at County Day Parks or on Land Bank property. Day parks are available for daytime activities only; visitors should exit the park prior to darkness. Fires or open flames are not allowed in County Day Parks.
