Deputies Arrest Alleged Sex Offender on Orcas Island

SAN JUAN COUNTY, WA. July 31, 2023 – The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office reports that on July 30, 2023, deputies on Orcas Island responded to a sex offense call on Orcas Island and arrested the alleged suspect.

Deputies quickly located and interviewed the suspect, which resulted in an arrest for the violation of RCW 9A.44.060: Rape in the 3rd Degree. The suspect was transported to Friday Harbor and booked into the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office jail and is awaiting a next-day hearing in the County’s Superior Court. 

Deputies worked with Peace Island Medical Center and Safe San Juans to transport the victim and an advocate to Friday Harbor for medical assistance. 

The investigation is ongoing and more information will become available as the case progresses.
