The San Juan County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on an ordinance repealing sections 15.12.010-15.12.200 of Chapter 15.12 SJCC; adopting new flood hazard control regulations and amending Chapter 18.80.140 SJCC. The proposed ordinance adopts new maps identifying the County’s special flood hazard areas and updates the development regulations applicable to all new and substantially improved structures in the special flood hazard areas.
The hearing will begin at or after 9 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, in the County Council Chambers, 55 Second Street, Friday Harbor, WA. Interested parties are encouraged to attend the hearing and submit written or oral comment. The staff report and draft ordinance will be available at the Department of Community Development (DCD) 135 Rhone Street, Friday Harbor, WA, during business hours and posted at http://sanjuanco.com/1394/Flood-Hazard-Reduction-Regulation-Update ten days prior to the hearing.

How to comment: The official comment period is Wednesday, May 2, 2018, through Friday, May 18, 2018.
Written comments about particular changes should refer to the page and line numbers in the draft ordinance. Written comments submitted prior to 12:00 midday, Thursday, May 17, will be copied for the Planning Commission unless the Planning Commissioners wish to review the comments on-line. For the record, please include your full address in all correspondence.
